Date:September 1963

Description:On the left is Mellor's Minerals flint mill on the Caldon Canal off Etruria Vale Road (to the left). The camera is looking north along the canal with the (now demolished) houses on Bedford Street in the background. To the right hand edge is the entrance to the Bedford Street Locks.

The wharves along this part of the Caldon Canal were originally operated by the Anderton Canal Company, who also had extensive facilities on the Trent & Mersey Canal in Longport. Housing along James Brindley Close now occupies the site of the mill.
