Date:December 1963

Description:The "rag and bone" man with his pony & cart passing the Great Eastern public house on the corner of Newcastle Street and Orme Street in Dalehall. The cart is heading towards the Staff of Life public house on the next corner (Stubbs Street). Trubshawe Cross is further on, past the Dalehall Garage. The 1960s houses on the right still stand, but the left hand side of the photograph is much changed. The Steelite pottery factory now occupies the site and most of the buildings have been demolished. The façade of the building beyond the Great Eastern has been retained.
