Description:Bert Bentley was looking east over Burslem from the top of Navigation Road. Just to the right of the bottle ovens is the short tower of St John's Church (a grade II listed building). The tower is the oldest structure in the City. When the church was rebuilt in 1717, the original tower built in 1536 was retained.
The ovens are linked with Acme Marls on Bournes Bank. In the background are the spoil tips of Norton and Sneyd Collieries.
In the foreground a range of 1960s cars made by Austin, Morris and Hillman with a Morris van.
