Description:This is a view eastwards along Parsonage Street from the corner of Hawes Street/Summerbank Road. At the bottom is High Street. In the far distance is the conical spoil tip of Chatterley Whitfield Colliery.
The overbridge connects Alfred Meakin's Royal Albert & Victoria Pottery (on the right) with their Royal Albert Pottery and decorating works (left). The works on the right date from 1866 and the extensions on the left in 1885. Both works specialised in earthenware. The terraced houses date from the middle of the 19th century and in the foreground is what looks like the remains of a Victorian gas lamp post.
