Description:The photograph shows the abandoned and infilled marl hole that lay to the east of Tunstall High Street. The photograph is looking west from Clanway Street. In the centre is Christ Church and to the right an earthenware works. The marl pit extended to the left and was part of the Newfield Marl Works. The area has been partly used for housing in New Hayes Road.
