Description:The shop was Knypersley Road stores on the corner of Knypersley Road and The Flatts Road in Norton. It was a tobacconist, sweet shop and grocer with a fine selection of 1960s adverts. The houses and shop were built in the 1890s and still stand although the shop is now a dwelling. The Flatts Road led to Upper Flatts Farm and to Lower Flatts Farm. The name Flatt might refer to a ploughed field (a flatt was a furlong, the length of a medieval ploughed furrow). The area behind The Flatts Road is still open farmland.
