Description:Looking north along Whitfield Road from near the junction with Bemersley Road. In the distance is the spoil tip belonging to Chatterley Whitfield Colliery. Just to the left of the detached house in the centre is Ball Green Primary School, still under construction when this photograph was taken.

The terraced houses on the right date from the early years of the 20th century. Bew Street comers in from the right about halfway down. This area was known as Cornhill. The left hand side of Whitfield Road post dates 1945.
