Description:Alsio known as the Whitfield memorial, Ball Green War memorial stood at the junction of Wilding Road (right) and Whitfield Road in Ball Green. It was moved to a new site in Ball Green in 1964, just after this photograph was taken, to allow improvements to the junction. The memorial is now on The Green in Whitley Road, Ball Green. The memorial commemorates the Whitfield dead of two world wars.

On the left of the photograph is part of the spoil tip and towards the centre, surface buildings of Chatterley Whitfield Colliery. The small Victor Value supermarket is now a dwelling.
