Description:This view along Glebe Street shows the buildings on the north side. On the right edge is the Glebe Hotel, still standing today as the Glebe public house ( a grade II listed building). Beyond Aqueduct Street is Stoke upon Trent's classical style Town Hall and beyond that St Peter's Chambers, an office building once the home of Stoke Education Committee, now demolished. Between St Peter's Chambers and the Town Hall is the entrance to Kingsway. Further on is the line of shops down to Church Street.
On the extreme left hand edge is a glimpse of the Saracen's Head public house, now demolished. Further on, on the left are the Tudor Gothic style buildings that continue round into Brook Street. St Peter's Church (Stoke Minster) is off to the left behind the clump of trees. Aqueduct Street is now blocked off but once gave access to an aqueduct which carried the Newcastle under Lyme Canal from the Trent & Mersey Canal over the Fowlea Brook at the back of Copeland's Spode Works.
