Date:July 1964

Description:The photograph shows the eastern end of Normacot tunnel near Meir Station. The railway is the Crewe to Derby line via Stoke. The houses running across above tunnel are on Station View and Meir Station was a few hundred yards to the left.

The chimneys on the left of the photograph belong to The King's Arms which was at the junction of Weston Road and Meir Lane (late Uttoxeter Road and now the A50). This is now the site of Meir interchange, over the Meir Tunnel.
