Description:A view west along Broom Street in Northwood, Hanley. The photograph is taken from the Tierney Street (formerly Cobden Street) corner and the next road on the left is John Bright Street. The terraced houses between Tierney and John Bright Streets have been demolished and replaced with modern housing. The houses further on remain largely the same.

The original street names come from Richard Cobden and John Bright, both nineteenth century MPs, Liberals, and Free Trade pioneers.
