Description:Photograph taken from the Chancery Lane side. The Chancery Lane side of the building. Built as the Queen's Theatre in 1896 after a fire had destroyed the previous building, the Empire was a theatre until 1921, when it was converted into a cinema. Its front faced onto Commerce Street. In 1966 it was converted into a bingo hall. A fire on New Years Eve, 1992 destroyed the building apart from the facade, which in turn was demolished in 1997.
