Description:A Fire Service for Burslem, Tunstall and Longport

Printed notice outlining the resolutions from a meeting at the Legs of Man in Burslem on 25th February 1799.

At the meeting it was decided to form a subscription based fire service to serve Burslem, Tunstall and Longport.

No public fire service existed in the area at this time.

A further meeting at the Legs of Man is announced for 15th March 1799.

The Subscribers

A list of subscribers to the service is listed along with the amount each would pay.

The list made up of local businessmen, including Enoch Wood, and there are three bands of subscription.
