Description:Pottery factory interior with a view of a woman wrapping ware with tissue paper. This was part of the packing process and protected the delicate ware whilst in transport.

Possibly taken in the warehouse at Sutherland China, Normacot Road, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.

Taken from the Gladstone Pottery Museum Photographic Collection.

This photograph is part of the collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums.

We recieved information about this image from a member of the public. She recognised the woman in the photograph as her mother.

"Mum's name was Clara Louisa Reeves. She was born on 16th January, 1906. She was the daughter of John and Florence Reeves. She never married (I was a war baby!)."

"I imagine she would be in her very early twenties when the photograph was taken. At the time the photograph was taken I believe she was working as a White Warehouse woman at Hammersley China in Longton."

"She also worked at T C Wild's factory - for how long I don't really know. I do know that my grandmother was a tailoress and she made shirts for Alderman Thomas C Wild when he was Mayor of Longton."
