Description:During the Second World War women were called upon to take over duties that would otherwise been carried out by men. With men being drafted into the armed forces women found themselves in organisations such as the women’s land army, etc.
This picture shows a casualty evacuation whilst under a simulated gas attack. Although the Germans never used gas during WW II Britain was prepared in case they did.
